Upcoming Projects
Extension of the existing boardwalk.
High usage of this area requires an extension as when the water level is high, trails are disturbing the vegetation to the East of the boardwalk
Grant Status….seeking Water SamplingHighly irregular testing of the river for nutrient levels and algae have lead us to believe this is most important that this be done regularly. We are trying to source funding that will allow us and train our volunteers to undertake this at each quarter of each year to fully understand the health of the system.

Erosion ControlThe main concern is the ever increasing boat traffic. Although the area is a 5 knot zone, this is not respected or monitored by any department. The erosion is severe in many parts of the river and we are constantly sandbagging and revegetating, but a large communal effort will be required soon. We will also be seeking further assistance with external funding

Japanese Pepper Trees
Our local volunteers have done an amazing job in trying to control these invasive trees. The Catholic Church land has many hundreds of these trees and we will be in consultation on how we can possible control the main source of these trees. We have applied to the Shire of Gingin for assistance in the removal of the trees on the southern side of the river also.

Bathymetry Study
There has been one only study on the depth of the river system. We believe that the river has silted in many areas and changed dramatically. We will undertake to try and receive funding for this study to be done and make the outcome public..
